Funpark Bobroviy Log

In 2004, the initiative of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory to build the Krasnoyarsk Sports and Recreation Complex Funpark Bobroviy Log found support from the management of the Norilsk Nickel company, as well as the executive authorities of the regional and municipal levels. The project status was defined as a public-private partnership.

The general investor of the project was the company MMC Norilsk Nickel OJSC, which invested over $ 100 million in construction.

The administration of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the administration of the Krasnoyarsk city ensured the creation of the necessary engineering, technical and transport infrastructure - total investments amounted to more than 9.5 million dollars.

The project of creating the all-season sports and recreation Funpark Bobroviy Log was implemented on behalf of the investor by a team of international and Russian managers, experts, designers and contractors.

Project Mission: to provide residents and guests of the city and the region the opportunity for sports and outdoor activities all year round, applying world technologies and providing the European level of service, to contribute to the development of professional skiing and snowboarding sports of higher achievements as an assistance to increasing the competitiveness of Russian sports.

Project goals: promotion of healthy lifestyle among the population of the city and region, development of physical culture and sports in order to improve the quality of life of the population of the city and region, support for the development of skiing and snowboarding in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, increasing the influence of sports ideals as a factor in youth development.

Objectives: creating conditions that orient residents of the city and the region towards a healthy lifestyle, providing a wide range of services for quality family recreation for 12 months a year, developing the infrastructure for mass sports and activities, using high technologies to create comfortable and safe conditions for recreation, creating conditions for the preparation of sports reserve and sports of higher achievements, the organization of projects that attract young people to an active and sporting lifestyle.

The Funpark Bobroviy Log has become a favourite place for family recreation and entertainment at any time of the year for residents of Krasnoyarsk and guests of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and significantly changed the traditions of leisure and expanded the possibilities of comfortable access to modern sports technologies without leaving the city.

Funpark is a modern high-tech urban-type complex, unparalleled, uniting more than 20 multifunctional and specialized facilities for sports and recreation, each of which is designed according to a unique author's concept. In winter, the Funpark works in the format of a ski complex, in summer - in the format of a recreation and entertainment park.

Funpark project slogan: "4 seasons 5 elements!" (5th element is Technology). The name “Funpark” was chosen in combination with the historical name of the place “Beaver Log” to represent the new all-season format of the complex that provides comfortable conditions for sports, active recreation and entertainment, taking into account high world requirements and standards.

The project was implemented in stages - 2 main lines - “Winter” and “Summer” formats. The capacity of the park is 3000 people (in winter), up to 10 thousand people (in summer), 15 thousand people - during mass urban events.

On December 3, 2006, the first line of Fanpark facilities was commissioned in the “Winter” format - “Ski Complex”.

During the construction of Funpark, world design experience was used, the terrain features, the climatic conditions of the area and the proximity of the facility to the Stolby Reserve were taken into account. The natural parameters of the ski area have been improved by the modern artificial snow formation system. The ski master plan and technology were developed by Canadian expert company Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners Ltd. The project of equipping with a modern automated system of snow formation of the Italian company "TechnoAlpin SpA" was implemented especially for the Funpark, thanks to which a stable snow cover on the tracks is guaranteed from November to April (6 months).

The German ratrack equipment of the Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG company, which produces ratracks under the PistenBully trademark, provides the professional quality of track preparing with artificial snowing in the Funpark.

During the winter period, 14 tracks work in the Funpark, and a training slope. According to the levels of difficulty for skiing, 5 “black” tracks are presented on the complex (an expert level of skiing is required), 6 “red” tracks (advanced level) and 3 “blue” tracks (medium level). 9 routes have been certified for compliance with international standards established by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The total area of the tracks with artificial snow is 40 hectares (50% of the total area of the park). For training beginners, the training slope is used ("green" track). The total length of the tracks is more than 10 km with a height difference of up to 350 m, the training slope for beginners is equipped with a baby-lift and soft figures. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, guests of Funpark are provided with comfortable conditions for skating - an ice skating rink with hire of figure and hockey skates - in Mirage multifunctional all-season complex, as well as the possibility of riding on buns on special routes for snow tubing.

In 5-7 minutes, four-seater cable-chair lifts of the Austrian holding company Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, the world leader in the production and construction of various types of cableways, deliver visitors to the tops of the slopes of Funpark. Additionally, on several tracks, there are a double surface lift (high complexity track only for professionals) and towing lifts - 2 unsupported cableways (baby lift) for the transition between the upper parts of the skiing areas and the maintenance of the Snow Tubing ride.

Mass skiing in the evening and holding of international professional competitions with television broadcasts are provided by a system of artificial illumination of tracks with a radiated light flux of up to 200 lux/sq.m.

On the basis of Funpark, the work of the Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve was organized for skiing and snowboarding.

As part of the Funpark facilities there are: Oasis Service Centre - a modern engineering structure of 5000 sq. m with the world's leading brand equipment rental service - over 800 sets of skis and 200 snowboards - Fischer, Rossignol, Atomic, trending equipment for skiing down the slopes - SkiFox, Snowter and SnowBike, aeroboards, automated depot for ski and equipment storage and ski service for tuning skis and snowboards equipped with MONTANA Swiss machines . The Service Centre has comfortable zoning and accommodation of priority services for guests including: Instructor training schools, designer restaurants - fast food restaurant "Red Tent" with stylized interiors and special furniture for ski resorts, convenient for visitors in ski equipment, restaurant of original cuisine, Plasma Hall Multiclub, Sport-boutique, ticket offices, wardrobe, medical and information services.

Thanks to a wide range of formats of the all-season complex and the development of author's filling concepts for each functional Funpark facility, we managed to implement local projects to preserve the heritage of staying of Vladimir Vysotsky and Valery Zolotukhin on the banks of the Yenisei during the filming “Taiga Master” (this is the name of the premium restaurant of the park, decorated with artifacts from the collection of V.Vysotsky's and V.Zolotukhin’s families). Fedor Konyukhov, the famous traveller, took part in the development of the concept, filling the Navigator Museum Club named after him with artefacts and personally attended the opening of the museum club in the Funpark.

In summer and in off-season period, the Funpark Bobroviy Log is an active recreation and entertainment area: Excursion walks on the cable-chair lifts, extreme rides unique for Russia, open-air beach and pool with warm water, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, cafes, bars, original cuisine restaurant, SPA complex, horseback riding, downhill trails ( downhill mountain biking) and terrain cure (recreational walking).

On July 15, 2007, in the format of the “Recreation and Entertainment Park with elements of the all-season program”, the facilities of the 2nd “Summer” Funpark line were introduced:

Multifunctional show centre "Mirage" is a unique construction in the form of an amphitheatre with an open stage, a swimming pool and large guest tiers. Light and sound equipment of a professional concert class allows to hold high-level events. The diameter of the pool is 36 meters, the depth is 1.5 meters, the volume of water is 1,700 cbm, the modern water treatment system. It is “The Beach” in the afternoon, and “The Entertainment Complex” in the evening. The unique format of Mirage show-centre allowed to hold the Liquidance Electronic Music Festival here - the largest project in the history of the club electronic stage with the participation of Russian and foreign DJs for several years. According to the conceptual solution, Mirage complex is an exclusive facility today, which is unparalleled in Russia.

The extreme ride “Rodelban” (the largest in Europe at the time of launch - 3.4 km), designed, manufactured and installed in Funpark by German company Josef Wiegand GmbH & Co.KG, is a combination of bobsleigh and roller coasters, located on the natural topography of Funpark; the highest curve of the track is made at the point of a panoramic view of Krasnoyarsk and the Stolby Reserve.

The largest outdoor climbing wall in Russia with a height of 20m is the project for the facility, specially developed by Tatyana Ruyga, the world rock-climbing champion.

A sculpture of a 160-kg talking wolf on a photo-site (based on Soviet cartoons) was made specially by Funpark's order by Tomsk authors - sculptor I. Kolomiychenko and foundry master M. Petrov.

In July 2008, the infrastructure of the complex was supplemented with new all-season open-air facilities:

“Alley of picnic pavilions” - a street of log inscribed stylized pavilions on a mountain ridge near the border of Funpark and Stolby Reserve - 800 meters from the picturesque Takmak rock (“Ice axe”, “Expedition”, “Meteorological station”, “Azimuth”, “Mountain Echo" pavilions, etc. with a capacity of 30-50 people, including a comprehensive program of excursion lifts on the cableway, exploring the surroundings with the help of powerful binoculars and visiting the nearby Stolby Nature Reserve).

Extreme rides: ZipRider® designed and installed by the American ZipHoldings company (1 km long flight on a cable from the top of a slope at a speed of 120 km/h), the popular Zorbing, High Rope City, downhill tracks.

The Funpark includes its own guarded parking lot for 582 cars and 28 buses. During the construction of the complex, together with the City Administration, the issue of introducing a new special bus route connecting areas of the city with Funpark was resolved. At the initiative of the project investor, a fleet of modern branded buses was acquired for this route.

The Funpark Bobroviy Log has rightfully become a Russian and international landmark of Krasnoyarsk. The multifunctional year-round platform of the Funpark provides an opportunity to hold sports competitions, citywide holidays, entertainment events, business forums - Funpark is the official event platform for participants and guests of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum (KEF) for many years. A visit to the Funpark is included in the unofficial program of guests of the region - representatives of government, business, famous people.

Funpark was awarded with the Discovery of the Year of International Union of the Ski Industry (in the year the facility was commissioned) and was repeatedly recognized as the winner in the following nominations: "The best resort for year-round recreation", "The most sports resort in Russia", "The best ski resort", "The best all-season sports and leisure park in Russia", "The best ski resort in Russia".

The “Ski Complex” of the Funpark was included in the facilities running the competitions of XXIX World Winter Universiade 2019. In the application file of Krasnoyarsk for the right to hold the World Winter Universiade 2019, the Funpark Bobroviy Log was identified as the only certified facility ready for the competition (at the time of the FISU application, 2012). The event of nine sets of medals is planned in five disciplines of skiing on the slopes of the Funpark during the Universiade 2019.
